In the publishing sphere, in Spain and Latin America alike, Grupo Planeta covers over 40 publishing imprints that publish in Spanish and Portuguese. Editis, present in three editorial sectors – literature, education and reference – and with over forty imprints, is the second largest publishing group in France and one of the most important in the European book sector.

Grup 62

Since it was founded, in 1962, Edicions 62 has built up a collection of over 4,000 titles. Since then Edicions 62 has continued publishing translations into Catalan of universal contemporary narrative. Contemporary Catalan narrative and the classics, with the collections El Balancí and Èxits, are a second line aimed at a broad audience. As for thinking and essay, its most emblematic collections are Llibres a l’Abast – with 400 titles published – and Biografies i Memòries. The Biblioteca Grècia i Roma de la Bernat Metge recovers indispensable classic texts, with their original translations. Other highlights in the Edicions 62 catalogue are poetry and theatre.

Prominent names in the world of pastimes and hobbies are those of Planeta DeAgostini and Altaya, two Grupo Planeta imprints that constitute a compulsory reference in the world of collectibles. While Altaya has focused exclusively on these products, Planeta DeAgostini adds to them an editorial line based on comic greats, from the American superheroes and Japanese manga to the French bande dessinée and both well-established and up-and-coming new Spanish authors.

Grupo Planeta is one of the three major Spanish media groups thanks to its position as a reference shareholder in press, television, radio, advertising and Internet companies that operate in Spain. Together with the DeAgostini group, Planeta stands as the main shareholder and manager of Grupo Antena 3, which owns Antena 3 TV, the leading private television channel in Spain, the channels Neox, Nova and Nitro as well as the new platforms that unite television and the Internet. Onda Cero, the second largest commercial radio station in Spain, Europa FM and Onda Melodía are the group’s radio stations, and it also owns advertising management companies. In press, it publish the daily newspapers La Razón, the fourth most influential daily in Spain.The Group also publishes magazines such as Historia y Vida, Psychologies and Lonely Planet.

Cinema and audiovisual production

DeAPlaneta and Planeta Junior are the Grupo Planeta audiovisual companies dedicated to the production and distribution of cinema films, television series, documentaries and children’s and young people’s entertainment programmes for all audiences. DeAPlaneta, the result of the coming together of Planeta and DeAgostini, has numerous Oscar-winning films such as En tierra hostil, El pianista, Michael Clayton and the documentary El viaje del emperador, as well as recent hits such as Señales del futuro and the animation film Planet 51. A catalogue of over seven-hundred films.

Planeta Junior, present in the countries of Southern Europe, distributes children’s contents for television, cinema, books and promotions and manages licences for brands such as Gormiti, Barrio Sésamo or the successful saga Crepúsculo. Classic children’s series that are the property of Planeta Junior such as La Abeja Maya, Heidi and Vicky el Vikingo will soon be revamped with new productions in 3D.

In the sphere of training and the updating of professional knowledge, Grupo Planeta has an offering, in both attendance and distance formats, that is very much geared to the jobs market.
