    Grupo Planeta is the leading Spanish publishing and communication group, which is family-owned and offers a broad product range at the service of culture, learning, news and audiovisual entertainment. Since Editorial Planeta was founded in Barcelona in 1949, the Group, presided by José Manuel Lara, has combined a solid business tradition with a great capacity for innovation and a clearly multinational vocation.

    Leadership in the publishing sector

    Grupo Planeta leads the publishing market in Spain and in Spanish America, is in second place in France and among the top six in the world. It boasts over 100 publishing imprints, which encompass all the literary genres and a catalogue of over 15,000 Spanish and foreign, classical and contemporary authors.

    A leader in multimedia (press, radio, television and the Internet)

    Since 2000, Grupo Planeta has launched into new business areas and has become one of the main Spanish communication groups. It is a shareholder of reference in the newspaper La Razón, and of ATRESMEDIA, which includes the television channels Antena 3, laSexta, Neox, Nova, Nitro, laSexta3 TODOCINE, xplora and GOL t, and the radio stations Onda Cero, Europa FM and Onda Melodía. Through Prisma Publicaciones, Grupo Planeta also manages a number of specialist journals, prominently including Grazia, Interiores, Lonely Planet Traveller, Psychologies, Historia y Vida, Dapper and Playboy.

    Training and audiovisual entertainment

    Grupo Planeta’s projection also spreads across the spheres of training for professionals, production and distribution of films and television series, and the development of new digital contents.
