In Interforum, authors, publishers and booksellers all have an efficient partner for taking books to their readers, whether in France or abroad. Interforum is a subsidiary company of Editis, founded in 1972, and is a very important enterprise in the distribution of books in France, which offers its customers a comprehensive promotion and distribution service. Through efficient logistics, the broadest coverage of points of sale in France, three branches abroad located in Belgium, Switzerland and Canada, as well as solid partners, Interforum commercialises the totality of the group’s works and also distributes those of close to eighty publishers that operate across the set of French-speaking regions.
In France, teams specialised according to type of sales outlet and type of publishing collection guarantee publishers broad and optimum dissemination of their works at all points of sale. The acquisition of DNL in 2005 allowed dissemination at supermarkets and local stores to be increased substantially. The international dissemination teams distribute the production of the publishers in over one hundred countries. Interforum operates abroad through its three subsidiaries located in Benelux, Switzerland and Canada, the latter a country where it signed a collaboration agreement with Québecor Media in 2005.
Its commercial management, marketing services, advanced IT tools and a website devoted to booksellers are the keys for finding out the expectations of booksellers and readers alike and for boosting sales.
As for distribution, Interforum has regrouped at its Malesherbes centre all the production of its publishers, to whom it guarantees the warehousing, management and distribution of their products.
Every year, around 110 million books are distributed, close to four million packages are despatched, over thirty million orders are processed and some 70,000 pallets and 40,000 containers are stored in two towers using a completely automated mini-load system. These and many other resources enable it to attract new, top-class publishers, which means that Interforum is the exclusive partner of Media Participations, Gallimard and Le Seuil-La Martinière in the supermarkets network.
