Grupo Planeta, leader in the publishing sector in Spain, Portugal,
France and Latin America, owns over seventy publishing companies worldwide.
Each of these companies maintains its own distinct personality and
together they constitute the broadest and most varied publishing offer
on the market today. |

Editorial Planeta, the Grupo Planeta's
origin, is the central publisher around which the company has
grown. From the very start its business focused on promoting
authors writing in Spanish, on achieving maximum dissemination
of the book as a vehicle for culture, and on the projection
and development of books in the Latin American market. After
over fifty years in business it continues to be a model for
quality and success; the projection of the Planeta Prize is
proof of this. |

Two first-class cultural references are Ediciones
Destino and Seix Barral. Destino publishes indifferently
in Spanish and Catalan the finest writers since the Spanish
Civil War. It is the creator of such prizes as the Nadal Prize
and the Josep Pla Prize for prose in Catalan. Seix Barral is
Grupo Planeta's literary label par excellence. Its Biblioteca
Breve collection and prize has represented a landmark in Spanish
narrative. Editorial Seix Barral is distinguished by its capacity
to back innovative writers, without preference for origin or
language, and for the careful design of its collections. |

in a genre and whose contribution is that of original and unrepeatable
narrative. |
